Free Sweat Fest Celebrates the Brand’s Shaw Expansion with Fitness, Music, Local Partners, and Youth Impact
For immediate release, Washington, DC — Sweat DC, the high-energy boutique fitness brand known for its inclusive, community-first approach to movement, is officially expanding. The brand will open its newest location in Shaw on March 28, located at 1818 7th Street NW inside the residential Langston building.
To celebrate its arrival in Shaw, Sweat DC is hosting Sweat Fest, a free community fitness and social event on Saturday, March 14 from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the historic Howard Theatre. The event brings together fitness, music, local businesses, and a mission-driven partnership aimed at making sport and wellness more accessible across the city.
The morning will kick off with a high-energy group fitness class at 10:30 AM, designed for all fitness levels. At 11:15 AM, the event transitions into a lively social experience with a live DJ, where guests can mingle, cool down, and connect with local vendors and community partners.
Sweat Fest is presented in partnership with The Open Goal Project, a nonprofit dedicated to creating opportunities for young players from marginalized communities in DC to access high-level soccer and grow with the game—on and off the field. Co-founded by Washington, D.C. native and former professional soccer player Amir Lowery, Open Goal Project's flagship program, DC Football Club (DCFC) is D.C.'s first and only youth travel soccer club that is 100% free to play.
"We're thrilled to continue our partnership with Sweat DC in the upcoming Sweat Fest. It's always special for us to collaborate with people who share our values of building and uplifting the DC community through sport, health, wellness, and inclusivity." said Open Goal Project co-founder Amir Lowery
Event partners will be on-site offering samples and experiences from South Block, Source Hydration, Mighty Meals, Prims Coffee, Athletic Recovery Lab and more. Attendees will also have the opportunity to sign up on-site for founding memberships at the new Shaw Sweat DC location and schedule private tours ahead of the official opening.
“We’re excited to launch in Shaw in a way that reflects who Sweat DC is at its core—community-driven, inclusive, and impact-focused,” said owners Gerard Burley and Chase McKessey. “Sweat Fest is about celebrating movement while supporting organizations and local partners that are doing meaningful work in our city.”
