LGBTQ+ Bar Owners to Open Second Bar with Food Offerings.
Washington D.C. Release: July 13, 2023. For Immediate Release.
Washington D.C. bar owners of LGBTQ+ bar Dirty Goose, secures new space with large open concept, with indoor and outdoor space. The new bar, Shakers, intends to offer a wide array of events catered to the community: from vibrant drag performances, to outdoor patio happy hours, to community-oriented discussions and family nights for the kids.
Owners Justin Parker and Daniel Honeycutt are hoping to curate a space that can balance between nightlife hotspot on weekends and a neighborhood community space during the week.
Justin Parker says: "Our first bar the Dirty Goose didn’t really allow a space to hold shows and events for larger groups. This new space is perfect for this. We have already built a stage and are planning on holding events from Drag performances to community panels. One of our first events is a panel on the fight against anti-drag legislation, that will be followed by performances from some of our local Drag community."
For their libations, the former inhabitants of the space had an extensive draft system that they were happy to inherit. "We will have draft beers and cocktails as well as specialty 'Shakers' cocktails that will be made with an upcoming surprise mechanism we purchased that helped inspire the name," says Daniel Honeycutt.
Located at 2014 9th Street NW, Shakers will be opening the weekend of July 21st and will be offering delicious food items from their neighbor Whitlow's, along with unique cocktail servings. Stay up to date on social media at @shakersdc. Open Monday-Friday @ 5:00 p.m. and Saturday and Sundays at 2:00 p.m.
