El Techo Navigates Locals and Delivers New Dishes
El Techo announce's the return of music to their unique jungle rooftop, bringing back the energy and vibration that the Shaw neighborhood has been missing.
The rooftop has been absent of on-site DJs the last couple of months due to the navigation of local neighborhood sound complaints. 33 residents of the area have been working to mold local businesses nearby, that have provided creative outlets for the music industry of D.C., to fit more into the square of a quiet neighborhood, rather than match the aesthetic that U Street is known for... nightlife and go-go.
In recent times owner Louie Hankins, of Hankins Hospitality, has played a vital role to the U Street Corridor. He has personally financed D.C. police officers to be stationed regularly at the corner of 6th and Florida NW, to maintain safety for patrons and any residents nearby. "Nightlife is and was the breath of U Street, and has been a backbone of culture for so many. My goal is to work with the residents of the corridor to provide a safe and fun hotspot for the neighborhood and the city of D.C., while maintaining the integrity and history of what U Street means to so many."
El Techo is excited to serve up a vibrant atmosphere for patrons to enjoy their new menu and drink specials, along with bottomless brunches and an "Eat.Sip.Vibe." mentality. Every Friday, Saturday and Sunday, their local lineup of DJs will be offering a wide variety of genres, including Afro beat, R&B, house, techno and more. With their diverse vibes, they will brush off the dust of El Techo's sound and connect their guests to the richness of different cultures.
El Techo offers bottomless brunch on Saturdays ($50) and Sundays ($45) that consists of bottomless margaritas, bloody marys, mimosas, Tecates, and features local DJs. Their menu is home made, consisting of fresh ingredients, promoting authentic flavors, with hand made tortillas. The special for the winter is an 8 hour bone in braised lamb birria ramen.
El Techo is located at 606 Florida Ave NW and open Tuesday-Sundays, and are available to host your private events and to meet all of your culturally acquired food, cocktail and music needs.
